Holistic counselling brisbane, life coaching, art therapy

Holistic counselling and therapy can help you to identify and explore core beliefs, blocks or wounding that may be preventing you from accessing the fullness of yourself, life & all its possibilities. Could there be disowned or unloved aspects of yourself that yearn to be acknowledged, accepted and re-loved into full belonging?

Joy & belonging are our birth right as human beings

Blocks to joy and belonging are not ‘defects’ of personality or character in any particular individual but rather are common to all of us as human beings. The nature of the human condition, of life and living, is that it’s simply not possible to avoid being hurt or wounded in some way throughout our life journey, though the exact nature, complexity or severity of the wounds or psychological injuries that we might experience are completely unique to our and our life story.

“much like a computer operating system that carries out its functions in the background, or our own involuntary biological processes such as breathing and digestion, we are rarely, if ever, truly conscious or aware of their workings and how they really impact us.”

Limiting core beliefs that we may develop and hold on to, often from a very young age can block us from experiencing a deep and natural sense of joy, belonging and self-love that is our birth right as a human being…these blocks, limiting beliefs and sabotaging patterns often occur without us even realising, because they operate at the level of our subconscious – much like a computer operating system that carries out its functions in the background, or our own involuntary biological processes such as breathing and digestion, we are rarely, if ever, truly conscious or aware of their workings and how they really impact us.

Working with blocks to joy and belonging

When working with core wounding, limiting beliefs and other blocks to joy and belonging in therapy, the aim is to safely and gently begin to identify them by bringing them into our conscious awareness – these can be the “aha!” moments that are often spoken about in counselling and therapy. It is only when we are able to shine the light of consciousness and awareness on these dark corners of our subconscious that we can begin to work with the limiting beliefs and wounds that can contribute to so much suffering and limitation in our lives.

This therapeutic process needs to be undertaken gently and with a great deal of self-compassion and is unique to each individual – very often the tender wounded or disowned aspects of ourself have been hidden away in the dark for a long time – they need to trust that it is safe to show themselves and be heard. This can take time, patience and genuine commitment, but the rewards of undertaking this journey of self-awareness and of working to shift blocks to joy and belonging are incredibly rich and worthwhile. We all deserve to live our fullest, most joyful and authentic lives.
